Bittangabee Tribe - Teacher’s notes and learning sequence

This set of teacher’s notes and learning sequence accompanies the book Bittangabee Tribe. It provides detailed activities for 4 lessons for Years F-4, grounded in the Yuin people’s experience and stories from the south coast of NSW.
The learning sequence covers topics such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' understandings of changing seasons and food sources; travelling on Country for trade and ceremony; and care for Country.
Activities include:
- Acknowledgment of Country and use of the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia
- text orientation, and suggested “as you read” discussion prompts
- comprehension/recall activities
- seasons and calendars compare/contrast activities
- structure for summative discussion
These are aligned to the Australian Curriculum for HASS, English, Science and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures cross-curriculum priority.
