About Us
Aboriginal Studies Press (ASP)
Aboriginal Studies Press (ASP) aims to be one of Australia’s leading publishers in First Nations non-fiction and children’s picture books. We want to create a place for projects that may not have found a home elsewhere, while supporting authors and narratives that capture and uplift Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories. We publish scholarly works, children’s picture books, biographies, research papers and monographs across a broad range of topics. We pride ourselves on working toward ethical publishing practices to uplift and platform authentic and appropriate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander literature.
Our authors are Indigenous and non-Indigenous academics and writers who work independently and, at times, collaboratively to ensure stories are shared with current and future generations. We publish around six titles each year with about 200 titles available.
Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS)

We conduct research to the highest ethical standards, directly benefiting the communities we work with.
Our partnerships span the globe, including government, academic, corporate, cultural and community sectors.
Our unique and dynamic convergence of knowledge, resources and expertise enable us to tell the nation’s story and enhance the lives of all Australians.
