I am a non-indigenous resident of the South Coast. I am deeply interested in linguistics and have experience of several European and Asian languages. This is the first time I have delved into an Australian indigenous language. I am fascinated by the sophistication of the grammar. The book provides an easily accessible overview of what is known about the Dhurga language. I am impressed by the authenticity of the work with references citing the source of words and expressions. It tells you what is known and what is not known about the language. It is a great tragedy that many elements of the language have not survived but this book will help to preserve and perhaps propagate the language.
