The 2022 International Women’s Day poster is inspired by the 2022 theme Changing Climates: Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.

The image has been drawn from the AIATSIS Collection and featured in the AIATSIS  publication After 200 Years: Photographic essays of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia today.

The publication was the result of a three-year Bicentennial-funded project that aimed to document, through photographs and text, the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander life in Australia 200 years after European colonisation. Twenty Indigenous and non-Indigenous photographers worked in as many communities across Australia for periods of up to two months.

About the creator

Each year at AIATSIS we celebrate International Women’s Day to acknowledge the women around the globe who continue to empower women and girls through leadership, advocacy, strength and courage. Whether its women in their local communities and regions or on the international stage, women continue to strive to make a difference to the lives of children and families.

Over the years, we have produced an International Women’s Day poster that features an inspirational image from the AIATSIS Collection or a prominent role model in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
